The genre-bending performance and video artist Joan Jonas spoke with “Artforum“ on the occasion of her exhibition at the 2015 Venice Biennale. In this exclusive interview, Jonas discusses her earliest experimentations with mirrors, remembers her days at Richard Bellamy’s Green Gallery in Manhattan, and reveals some of the intentions behind “They Come to Us without a Word,“ her presentation at the United States pavilion. The artist’s retrospective, „Good Night Good Morning,“ is on view until July 6, 2024, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
