The TBA21-Academy is happy to share that Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid is currently showing „Moving Off the Land VI“, Joan Jonas’s poetic tribute to the sea, centering on the role the ocean has played for cultures throughout history as a totemic, spiritual, and ecological touchstone.
Commissioned by TBA21–Academy, the project was first inaugurated at Ocean Space in Venice in 2019, comprising video, sculpture, drawing, and sound works, and subsequently presented at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid in 2020 (image: Joan Jonas: „Moving Off the Land“, 2016/2018, Cowell Theater, Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, San Francisco.)
