Ambereum is an orange-hued performance space and a hideaway from the fast pulse of the festival. At night it becomes the central club for dancing.

„All things keep on in everlasting motion, Out of the infinite come the particles,
Speeding above, below, in endless dance.“
― Lucretius, On the Nature of Things
„Air, I should explain, becomes wind when it is agitated.“
― Lucretius, On the Nature of Things
Being in crisis together is our chance for change! Humanity develops in waves. As part of the Roskilde Festival „Fifty Fifty“, 2022, the Ambereum program takes the wave of changes that we are experiencing worldwide at this moment as a chance to think about rebirth, renewal, and reconfiguration of our cosmos. In short, we need to find new ways of being, growing, and in doing so experiment and transform our worldviews and values together. If we allow the collapse of some value systems, may we see the birth of others? Discover hidden knowledge and inventions? How do we respond to the turbulent nature of things today? With a dance of change?
With the performance and music program, „The Nature of Things“, we look for inspiration in the past, so we can learn for the future and perhaps understand the cycles of change and crisis that the world once and again goes through. „On the Nature of Things“ is a first-century BC holistic poem by the Roman poet and philosopher Lucretius (c. 99 BC – c. 55 BC), who explains why the world is how it is by way of physics and chance. Here Lucretius offers insights to the principles of atomism; the nature of the mind and soul; explanations of sensation and thought; the development of the world and its phenomena; and explains a variety of celestial and terrestrial phenomena. As if looking at the world with new eyes, the author deeply inspired by hedonistic „Epicureanism“ - a materialist, almost Buddhist philosophy that encompassed religion, sex, superstition, death, science, morality, pleasure, politics, disease, the gods.. - opens up his readers minds to an unfiltered present at a time, more than 2000 years ago, where humans were expecting divine forces to be the only way to change their life. Later in the Renaissance, 1400 years later, the book „On the Nature of Things“ was rediscovered and gave rise to another round of modernisation and liberation of agencies. Based on three different key principles in „On The Nature of Things“, the Ambereum program is divided into three day pheres:
Day 1: Atoms
Day 2: Souls and
Day 3: Material
The performance and music program opens up to celestial and terrestrial reconfigurations: Wednesday 29th June – Warm-up (only evening programme).
Thursday 30th June: Atoms (atomism: a holistic approach to the micro and macro cosmos).
Friday 1st July: Souls (healing, emotions, introverted, traveling in mind, acceptance of loss and difference).
Saturday 2nd July: Material (empiricism: understanding of the empirical life world, sensing the world e.g. ecological changes, body, space, haptic shifts).
